Technology Review is reporting on a new technology from a company called GigaBeam that can stream data at more than 1 gigabyte per second wirelessly at distances of up to one mile.
For perspective, the article tells us that, using GigaBeam's "WiFiber," 90 minutes of video could be downloaded one mile away in six seconds -- a feat that would take nearly an hour via DSL.
According to Pew Internet Life, last year more than 4 million Americans accessed the Internet regularly from someplace other than their home or office. What will it mean to business when technology like this is pervasive, and ultra high speeds are available nearly everywhere?
